Certified coursework
beyond high school
Certified pre-college modules*, taught live online outside school hours, led by young researchers, and assessed by a common in-person examination.
* Initially in mathematics and geopolitics.
Structured access to the level universities expect
A few top high schools go beyond the curriculum informally. Everywhere else, a motivated student has no structured route to that level of demand. Bridge opens that route, whatever the school, and attests the level attained.
What the curriculum has ceased to demand
Disciplined and careful writing, proof, long-form problems: what genuinely prepares for demanding university study has left the official curriculum. Bridge restores it in its teaching, from an enriched school program up to first-year university level.
Applications grown hard to compare
In admissions, selectors struggle to tell candidates apart. Grades vary from school to school, and files show neither method, nor stamina, nor true level. The Bridge transcript documents that work: same papers, same conditions, same marking for the whole cohort.
Support that is costly or standardized
One-to-one tutoring personalizes, at a cost that is hard to sustain over time; intensive courses share the cost at the price of uniformity. Bridge pays particular attention to the fine detection, from the outset, of each student's strengths and weaknesses, in topics as in method, and personalizes the learning accordingly, down to the choice of exercises.
What we intend to build
In the United States, Advanced Placement programs allow school students to take, before university, courses of university standard and to have the results recognized in their applications. We wish to offer students in France a comparable possibility: to deepen a discipline, to meet the demands of higher education by degrees, and to be able to make the work accomplished count.
Teaching is entrusted to young researchers who themselves practice the disciplines they teach. Students do not merely discover more advanced content: they encounter a way of reasoning, of searching and of working proper to higher education. There, they are treated as university students.
A steering committee of leading academics defines the programs and the examination papers and watches over their level of rigor.
Finally, because the same programs, the same assessment arrangements and the same criteria apply to all, the results obtained are intended to constitute a clear and comparable benchmark, including for students who wish to pursue their studies abroad.
This standard is international from the outset. We are designing the program to meet the expectations of the world's leading universities, in France and abroad, and we intend to extend it there as it grows.
College-style lectures and tutorials
A weekly two-hour session, in the evening or on weekends, complemented by more intensive sessions during school holidays, which form part of the module. Every session is held live, online, and outside school hours, so that schooling is never encroached upon.
Placement paper
A graded booklet of exercises, calibrated to the year of entry, measures true level, topic by topic, and identifies the points of method to strengthen.
Placement by subject
In mathematics, Consolidation with open access, or Maîtrise, admission to which rests on the placement paper. In geopolitics, a single common track.
The module
A class of twenty, lectures and tutorials by videoconference, work in pairs, a weekly problem, targeted micro-tutoring included.
The common examination
A written exam taken in person on a Saturday, with a common paper and time-slot for the whole cohort and anonymized scripts.
The certified transcript
Attendance, continuous assessment, exam grade, cohort rank. The student shares it by giving out an identifier, verifiable at unifiedbridge.fr/verifier.
Programs that lead from school to university
In each subject, students are directed to the track that matches their true level, measured by a fine-grained assessment of skills. The choice is never final: movement between tracks is provided for, semester after semester. In mathematics, two tracks; in geopolitics, one common track.
Mathematics and geopolitics open the program; the six other subjects will follow, built on the same model.
Consolidation
open accessThe specialty curriculum, retaken at the level of rigor universities genuinely expect, proving what one asserts and taking care over written work. One self-contained module per year, in première and in terminale.
Maîtrise
admission by placement paperAn introduction to the notions of first-year university mathematics. One self-contained module per year.
A supervised mini-dissertation, defended orally, may extend the module; dedicated sessions prepare, for those who wish, for olympiad problems and for the Concours général, the French national schools competition.
Common track
open accessFor students aiming at Sciences Po and the social sciences, under the academic responsibility of a university professor in the discipline.
The detailed programs, session by session, are settled by the academic steering committee and published before each academic year.
An examination whose conditions and level of rigor give it its worth
The transcript's worth lies in the level of rigor of the paper and in the conditions of its production, identical for the whole cohort and verifiable. It is built, from the outset, to serve as a common standard from one school to another.
Uniform conditions
Same paper, same time-slot for all, supervised on site, identity checked. The whole cohort is measured under the same conditions.
Consistent grading
Anonymized scripts; a grading review panel chaired by an academic lead.
Verifiable, and in the student's hands
A unique identifier, authenticable online. The transcript is never released without the student's consent.
The transcript guarantees no admission and replaces no national procedure. It is an additional element of the file, produced under verifiable conditions. Its first value is the education it attests.
From the world of research, in touch with knowledge as it advances
Lectures, under a single academic authority
Academic responsibility for each subject rests with a university professor, who settles its program, guarantees its level and signs each student's transcript.
Tutorials, led by doctoral and post-doctoral researchers
Young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers teach from the subject's common lecture notes and model answers, under the supervision of its academic head.
A protective framework
A child-protection charter, supervised channels of communication, no unsupervised one-to-one contact.
Personalised support over the long term
One-to-one tutoring is costly, and intensive courses do not suffice to personalize. Bridge accompanies students over time. The placement paper establishes, topic by topic, what each student has mastered and what they still lack; exercises worked at home are chosen on that basis, and micro-tutoring sessions serve to review them, to guide a solution that stalls, or to take a concept further. The Intensive plan adds small-group sessions.
Essential
Intensive
What families ask us
Is it compatible with school? +
Yes, by construction. Every session takes place outside school hours: one two-hour session in the evening or on weekends, and intensive holiday sessions, placed to lighten busy weeks. Revisiting a notion from another angle consolidates it, which benefits school results too.
Does my child have the level? +
The placement paper answers precisely that question, topic by topic. The Consolidation track is open access: there, the paper serves to place the student, not to turn anyone away. Admission to Maîtrise, for its part, rests on the result. In both cases, admission depends neither on the school attended nor on the school record.
Who teaches? +
Researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral students, teaching from the subject's common materials: lecture notes, model answers, papers. Each subject is overseen by a university professor, who settles its program and chairs the panel.
What is the certified transcript for? +
It attests a level, under conditions a school report cannot offer: identical paper and conditions for the whole cohort, consistent grading, an online-verifiable result and a cohort rank. Students may attach it to their applications if they wish. We promise no automatic effect on admissions: the scheme's first value is the education itself.
How much work is it? +
About 48 supervised hours per semester module, that is two hours a week plus the intensive holiday sessions, to which is added the personal work set between sessions. The pace is demanding, and designed to remain sustainable alongside school.
How does the examination work for a minor? +
The examination takes place on a Saturday, in regional centers close to railway stations. Written parental authorization, gathered at enrollment, covers travel and participation. An alternative sitting is provided for justified cases: illness, major impediment, adjustments for disability.
Can we pay in installments? +
We intend to offer it; the terms will be set out when enrollment opens.
Pre-registration is open
Pre-registration is free and without commitment. It gives access to the full placement booklet and reserves a place for the October sitting. Classes are limited to twenty students.
Pre-register my childA student may also pre-register on their own; final enrollment requires the legal guardian's signature.
